The Gauhati High Court has released a recruitment notification for various Civil Judge Posts in the Assam State. The Gauhati CJ Judiciary Notification has been released on 7 February 2025 on the official website of Gauhati HC. The HC will fill a total no. of 22 posts of Civil Judge Cadre. Assam Judiciary Selection Process 2025
The Gauhati HC conducts the Assam Judiciary Exam in three stages. These are mentioned below –
- Preliminary Exam (Objective Type)
- Mains Exam (Subjective Type) and
- Personal Interview
The Gauhati Civil Judge Prelims Exam is the first stage that will be only screening test. Those candidates who will secure 60% or more marks in the preliminary examination shall be eligible for appearing in the Main Exam.
Provided that the ratio on the basis of which the candidates will be called for the Main Exam shall be 1:10. All candidates who obtain 60% or more marks in the Main Exam subject to securing at last 45% marks in individual Paper – I, II, III, IV and minimum 35% marks in the official language paper (paper-IV) shall be eligible for viva-voce.
Provided that the Schedule Caste/ Schedule Tribe candidates who obtain 50% or more aggregate marks in the Main Written Exam subject to securing minimum 40% marks in individual Paper – I, II, III, IV and minimum 35% marks in the language paper shall be called for Viva-voce.
Marks obtained in the language paper shall be qualifying in nature and shall not be counted in the aggregate marks secured by the candidates in the examinations for the purpose of final selection.
The marks obtained in the preliminary exam shall not be considered in further stages. Those who have passed the Assam CJ preliminary exam are invited to take the main exam. Candidates are then invited to the interview if they pass the Assam Civil Judge Mains exam.
Assam Judiciary Prelims Exam Pattern 2025

- The mode of preliminary exam will be offline mode (OMR Based).
- The paper will be of 100 marks out of which 90 marks will be covered from law subjects and remaining 10 marks will be covered in language proficiency in the official language of the state of Assam (Assamese).

Assam Judiciary Mains Exam Pattern 2025

Assam Judiciary Viva-voce 2025
Relatively more meritorious candidates from among those who appeared in the Mains Examination in the ration of having regard to the number of vacancies shall be called for viva-voce to be conducted. The viva-voce will be of 50 marks. The final merit list will be prepared by adding the marks obtained by a candidate in the mains exam and viva-voce.
For each vacancy three candidates shall be called for viva-voce strictly in order of merit obtained in the written examination. The candidate shall have to secure minimum 40% marks in the interview.
