The High Court of Gujarat, in view of the guidelines issued by the Hon’ble Supreme Court in the Case of Malik Mazhar Sultan & anr. v/s UP Public Service Commission & Ors., reported in (2008) and as per the provisions prescribed under the Gujarat State Judicial Service Rules, 2005 (as amended from time to time) invites online applications from eligible candidates for filling up approximately 212 regular vacancies by way of competitive examinations for the cadre of Civil Judge.
The Gujarat Judiciary Exam, also known as the Gujarat Civil Judge, Junior Division (Junior Level), is conducted by the Gujarat HC. This exam is designed to recruit Civil Judges for the state’s judicial services. The examination process will be completed in three stages i.e. preliminary exam, mains exam and viva-voce.

Gujarat Civil Judge Salary Details
As per the latest Gujarat Judiciary Notification 2025, the Gujarat Civil Judge salary is as per scale pay of Rs. 77,840 to Rs. 1,36,520/-. On the top of their monthly salary, they are entitled to a Grade Pay of 4500/- and additional perks and benefits like House Rent Allowance, Travel Allowance, Medical Allowance, Electricity Bill, Phone Bill, Water Bill, Vehicle Maintenance, Pension and Gratuity, Leave and Holidays etc.

Gujarat Judiciary Exam Eligibility
Educational Qualification
As per the latest notification of Gujarat Judicial Service Civil Judge, the aspirant should consider the below eligibility criteria. He will be eligible for the Gujarat civil judge exam if he fulfils the below conditions.
- He must have completed LLB degree of 3 or 5 years from a recognised law university.
- A candidate will have to pass the vernacular (Gujarati) language proficiency test. Provided that, those candidates who have cleared their secondary or Higher Secondary examination with subject of Gujarat, shall not be required to pass aforementioned examination.
- Must be practicing as an advocate in courts of Civil Criminal jurisdiction on the last date fixed for submission of online application.
- Must possess certificate certifying to be possessing Basic Knowledge of Computer Application/ Operation.

- Minimum Age Limit – 21 Years
- Maximum Age Limit – 35 Years

To apply for the Gujarat Judicial Service Exam online, you typically need to follow these steps:
- Check Eligibility: Before applying, ensure that you meet all the eligibility criteria specified in the official notification issued by the Gujarat High Court.

- New Registration: If you are a new user, you will need to register by providing basic details such as your name, email address, mobile number, etc. Once your registration is complete, a USER ID and PASSWORD shall be sent to your mobile number and email id.
- Fill Application Form: Once logged in by using the same user id and password, find the link “Application Form”. Provide all the required details accurately, including personal information, educational qualifications, contact details, etc.
- Upload Documents: You are required to upload scanned copies of your photograph, signature, category certificate (if applicable), etc. Make sure these documents are scanned as per the specifications mentioned in the application form.

Gujarat Civil Judge Selection Process
There are three stages to Gujarat HC J Exam. The Gujarat Civil Judge Prelims Exam is the first stage that will be only screening test. The marks obtained in the preliminary exam shall not be considered in further stages. Those who pass the Gujarat PSC J preliminary exam are invited to take the main exam. Candidates are then invited to the interview if they pass the Gujarat HC J Mains exam.
